Dr. Ian Dobson is responsible for technology within BP’s recently
established biofuels business. BP intends this business to position the company
as a leader in that industry, establishing a distinctive and progressive voice
in shaping the industry. He is responsible for building strategic technology
relationships for the business, accessing and implementing
the technology needed to deliver the biofuels business development strategy. Since
leaving Leeds University in 1985, Dr. Dobson has served
in a variety of research and management roles in BP and its spin-off company Innovene. He worked in BP's ethanol business leading
industry advocacy on various environmental and trade issues before becoming
technology General Manager in the Chemicals stream. In 2004 he moved into Innovene to be Director of European Government Affairs
based in Brussels.
Following the sale of Innovene in 2006, he took up
his current activity with BP biofuels.
