AgBio Exhibition
A comprehensive trade show and exhibition will run concurrently with the conference. Exhibiting is a must for any company within the industry to increase awareness amongst the participants.

The Exhibition will showcase the latest development, products, and technology available. All refreshment breaks and the majority of social functions will be held in or near the Exhibition hall.

Exhibition packages

Single Exhibitor (10' x 10') - Cost $3500.00 CDN
Exhibitor will receive the following:
  • one exhibition booth of 10'x 10' area for rental
  • black curtain background and side
  • one 15 amp/120volt general purpose outlet
  • one complimentary registration for the conference (this can be used for the person manning the booth)
  • one complimentary "Exhibition Area Only" registration
  • listed as an exhibitor with a link on the conference website
  • 25 word company profile in the website
  • listed as an exhibitor in the conference handbook.

Note: All complementary registrations must be received by July 15th, 2007 otherwise they will not be able to be processed.

Double Exhibitor (10' x 20') - Cost $7000.00 CDN
Exhibitor will receive the following:

  • two exhibition booths of 10'x10' area for rental
  • black curtain background and side
  • one 15 amp/120volt general purpose outlet
  • two complimentary registrations for the conference (one or both of these tickets can be used for the person/s manning the booth)
  • two complimentary "Exhibition Area Only" registrations
  • listed as an exhibitor with a link on the conference website
  • 25 word company profile in the website
  • listed as an exhibitor in the conference handbook.

Altered Exhibit Floor Plans
Conference management reserves the right to alter common areas and exhibit floor plan at any time, without prior notification or approval. Management also reserves the right to re-locate any exhibitor in the floor plan space and will advise the exhibitor of such changes prior to the event.

Exhibit Restrictions
Conference management reserves the right to determine when sound levels from audiovisual equipment interfere with others or are unacceptable. In such cases, exhibitors will be notified and Management will act to ensure that sound levels remain at normal levels. Backdrops/ signage must not exceed ten (10) feet in height. Conference management must approve any exception in advance. For display purposes, freestanding bulletin boards, signs, etc may be used provided that neighboring exhibitors are not hidden from view.

Conference management has established that exhibit booths are ten (10) feet wide across and ten (10) feet deep. Booths are separated by an eight foot high drape at the rear and 4 foot high drape on either side. Double booths will occupy a twenty (20) foot space by ten (10) foot space.

Conference Management reserves the right to re-locate displays that restrict visibility to other displays.

ABIC 2007 Genome Canada Student Poster Session
Ten (10) Canadian PhD Students will have an opportunity to win a free registration package to attend ABIC 2007.

ABIC 2007 Genome Canada Student Poster Session Details
Eligible students must submit a poster abstract that fits into one of three subject areas: Health and Agriculture (Food), Environment/Global Stewardship and Productivity/Quality. The top 10 relevant and appropriate abstracts will be selected, and these students will receive a free registration package to attend ABIC. Winners must provide a poster for display and be available to present their poster to conference participants during a designated time.

Eligibility: Students must be Canadian students/young scientists (a person who is no more than 2 years beyond the granting of their PhD by September 2007) and must be Canadian Nationals studying in Canada.

Deadline: Poster abstracts must be submitted by July 23, 2007 together with your registration form. Please download, complete and fax the "ABIC 2007 Genome Canada Student Poster Session Abstract Submission Form" to the conference coordinator at 403-255-4592 prior to July 23, 2007.

NOTE: The 10 student sponsorships include one free registration package to ABIC 2007 only. Students are responsible for all travel, accommodation, poster production and any other related costs or expenses. (ABIC registration includes all coffee breaks, lunch on Monday and Tuesday, the Welcome Reception on Sunday night, and the networking receptions on Monday and Tuesday, ABIC Banquet on Tuesday, all plenary and concurrent sessions, and entrance to the exhibit area).

ABIC 2007 Poster Session
ABIC 2007 invite students, scientists and researchers to submit abstracts of your work and prepare posters for display during the ABIC 2007 Calgary conference. Topics will be related to academic research or development effort, which could potentially provide solutions to, or address, unmet needs in Agriculture related biotechnology. Poster abstracts should outline the problem the research or development effort addresses and identify potential commercial markets.

A cash prize of $500 will be awarded to the best poster in each of the three subject areas:

  • Health and Agriculture (Food)
  • Environment / Global Stewardship
  • Productivity / Quality

The call for Posters is brought to you by the Partner sponsors of ABIC 2007 and is open to all participating delegates. Display space for posters is limited to maximum of 60 posters; submissions will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Guidelines

  1. Poster Presenters must be registered, fully-paid conference delegates. ABIC 2007 Delegate Registration Form must be completed, and submitted to the Conference Coordinator with full payment in Canadian funds prior to Monday July 23, 2007.
  2. There is no abstract submission fee or poster submission fee.
  3. At least one of the poster authors must be present at the conference.
  4. Poster presenters must also complete the ABIC 2007 Calgary Abstract Submission Form and submit it with their abstract to the Conference Coordinator by Monday July 23, 2007 by email to iris@irismeckcom.com and use the email subject heading "2007 ABIC abstract" or fax to (403) 255-4592 or mail to ABIC 2007 Abstract, Suite 510, 5920 - 1A Street SW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada T2H 0G3. Abstracts and Abstract Submission Forms received after this deadline date will not be accepted.
  5. The number of posters for presentation is limited to 60. Submissions will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  6. Abstracts associated with the Posters will be published in the ABIC 2007 Conference Proceedings or website and must be provided to the Conference Organizers (preferably in electronic format) on or before Monday July 23, 2007. Abstracts will be printed exactly as submitted. No editorial corrections will be made.
  7. Abstract content:
    1. Limited to one, letter-size page, 8.5 inches x 11 inches (21.5cm x 28cm).
    2. Abstract Title: Title should be bold, Times New Roman, font size 16, at the top of the page, the first letter of each word should be capitalized. No abbreviations should be used.
    3. Poster Category: chosen from list of Health, Environment/Global Stewardship and Productivity/Quality
    4. Primary Authors: Primary authors name as you wish it to appear in the proceedings and website and underlined.
    5. Contributing authors names and affiliations should then be indicated
    6. Presenter(s) contact details, including Affiliation(s), should follow the title. If listing more than one, list the main contact and note as such.
    7. The stage of development of the research/product being presented
    8. Abstract body: single line spacing with Times New Roman font size of 12 and should not exceed 250 words. In the body of the abstract explain the poster/research, including its commercial potential as well as the research problem or unmet need it will address.
  8. Abstract submission: Abstracts should be sent to iris@irismeckcom.com by Monday July 23, 2007.
  9. Abstract editing or cancelling submission: Changes to abstracts will not be accepted after on line submission. Abstracts should be edited and carefully reviewed prior to submission. A common reason abstracts are not accepted is significant typographical or grammatical errors.
  10. If you wish to cancel your application, contact the conference coordinator by email expressing your wish.
  11. Abstract selection: The ABIC 2007 Poster Session subcommittee committee will review all proposals and select presentations for display at the 2007 ABIC Conference. Presenters will receive formal notice of acceptance via email beginning August 10th, 2007. Abstracts will be selected for presentation starting 6 weeks prior to the conference Friday August 10th, 2007.
  12. Each associated poster presentation must measure 4 feet x 4 feet (1.2 meters x 1.2 meters).Each poster will be mounted vertically and will occupy one-half of one side of a freestanding, poster display board. (This may be at the discretion of the show committee) The poster board will accommodate pushpins and will be Velcro-receptive. Presenters will be responsible for supplying their own Velcro or pushpins for hanging their posters.
  13. Poster Content should include:
    1. Title, primary author as you wish it to appear in the proceedings and website. Underline the primary author.
    2. Contributing authors: Contributing authors' names and affiliations should be indicated.
    3. Letters should be in font size not less than 1 inch (2.54 cm) high and preferably 2 inches (5cm) high. Presenters should select a font and letter size to allow viewers to read the poster from a distance of 4 feet (1.2 meters) or more.
    4. Introduction, materials, and methods, results, and discussion should be included.
    5. A Matte finish is requested on the posters: it provides better visibility as it reduces glare. Posters will be on display during the conference and should carry your message without requiring any additional comment.
    6. Material presented must be based on the abstract previously submitted and should be novel, not previously published material.
  14. Poster will be displayed in a secured area during non-conference hours. The poster area will be in the 2007 ABIC Exhibition area throughout the conference, Telus Conventional Centre, Calgary and will run the same times as the ABIC trade show exhibition.
  15. Set-up is to be competed by noon on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007. Details regarding poster location and removal time will be announced at a later date. All posters must me removed following the conference. Posters remaining on site will not be retained or returned.
  16. *Details pertaining to judging criteria will be announced at a later time.
  17. One author of the poster will be required to be present at their poster station during the assigned date and time designated during the 2007 ABIC conference (to be announced at a later date) to present or explain their presented poster to conference participants. If multiple presenters are involved, only one need to be present at a time.

ABIC 2007 Steering Committee reserves the right to review and approve or deny any application to present a poster at the 2007 ABIC Calgary conference poster session. As all accepted abstracts and presentations will be published and publicly accessible, please take care not to unduly expose confidential information.
