Dr Roger Hellens at AusFoodtech

The Chair of the committee drawing up the programme for ABIC 2012, Dr Roger Hellens, will be speaking on future foods at AusFoodtech being held in Adelaide as part of Australia’s annual biotechnology conference. Dr Hellens, who is Science Group Leader, Genomics, at Plant & Food Research, will discuss advances in whole genome sequencing technologies that will enable targeted breeding programmes of safe, sustainable foods with characteristics consumers want.

He says ideas generated at AusFoodtech can feed into discussion at ABIC 2012 about challenges facing a world with a growing population, food security issues and pressure on the environment.
