Get to Know Regina Moench-Pfanner

What positions have you previously held leading up to your current role?

I had many different roles from nutritionist, relief coordinator, country director, senior manager and senior director.

 

What initially sparked your interest in the life science industry?

I found nutrition science very interesting as it touches on everything and many different sectors.

 

Which leader in life science do you most look up to? 

I don't have one specific person I look up to, as I rather look at many persons and some of my peers who want to make a difference in life.

 

What advice do you have for anyone pursuing a career in life science? 

Be interested in life, with all its ups and downs!

 
What do you do in your spare time? 

Lots of sports, walking, travel - finding out new things.

 
What's your favourite Canadian dish? 

I like the ice wines.

 
What do you most value in your friends? 

Sincereness and humour.

 
Which superpower would you most like to have?

To be able to move from one place to the other in quick speed without having to take transportation! 

 
What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Contributing to improving poor people's nutrition status, be it through nutrition evaluations, implementing large scale nutrition programs, food fortification programs, influence product development, distribution of food aid, scientific publications, advocating for micronutrients' availability/intake and promoting the intake of a nutritious diet of the poor and vulnerable.  

 
Who are your heroes in real life? 

My husband and sons.
