What positions have you previously held leading up to your current role?

1997 - founder and CTO of Epoch Integration, sold to RIM in 2006. Various consultant and management positions at Bell and Government of Canada. That is my entire 20-year career.


What initially sparked your interest in the life science industry?

The potential to marry AI with pathogen detection.


Which leader in life science do you most look up to? 

Dr. Francis Plummer of Winnipeg!


What advice do you have for anyone pursuing a career in life science? 

Learn how to program in Python.


What do you do in your spare time? 

Pilot, drummer.

What's your favourite Canadian dish? 


What do you most value in your friends? 

Patience with me always working.

Which superpower would you most like to have?

Invisibility, so I can get work done without being interrupted.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being the first to have founded an artificial intelligence platform company in Canada.

Barack Obama.
