Biography

Alec Stuart is the Manager of the Property & Corporate Environment Department at Manitoba Hydro. In this role, Alec is responsible for a number of corporate initiatives and programs, including property acquisition, environmental risk management, hazardous materials management and agricultural biosecurity. In 2013, he coordinated the development of the Manitoba Hydro’s overall agricultural biosecurity policy. Since then, he has worked closely with Hydro staff, government and industry groups to ensure that the approach to biosecurity meets the expectations of stakeholders without impacting corporate operations or the service expectations of customers. 

Alec joined Manitoba Hydro in 2009, working with projects related to building codes and energy efficiency before moving into the environmental field. Before joining Manitoba Hydro, Alec worked with the City of Winnipeg where he held the position of Environmental Coordinator and also held positions with the Province of Manitoba. He holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Winnipeg and a Masters Degree in City Planning from the University of Manitoba.
