Biography

Glenn Friesen is an Industry Development Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, and since 2013 a member of Management Committee for the Manitoba Beef & Forage Initiative. He helped lead the stakeholder consultations and design of the MBFI partnership, and continues to ensure it meets the vision of its supporters and stakeholders.  He, and MBFI partners continue to present across Canada on the role of this partnership to support the development and adoption of innovation on the landscape. The initiative was recognized by the Province of Manitoba in 2016 for its public-private partnership model and focus on driving innovation at the farm level.
 
Glenn joined Manitoba Agriculture in 2003 as an extension specialist, and in 2005 he was transitioned into business development, where he led product and market development activities, and multiple fact-finding and trade missions focused on growing and marketing forage and livestock products to domestic and export markets. Glenn has chaired and held a range provincial and national committee positions over the years. He and his working group were recognized by the Province of Manitoba in 2007 for their leadership and innovation in agriculture.
 
Prior Manitoba Agriculture, Glenn worked at Cargill and United Grain Growers. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba. In his spare time, he continues to help out at the family farm.
 
Glenn is passionate about working with a wide range of people linked to agriculture, helping to create innovative and collaborative efforts that improve the awareness and success of agriculture, with a particular interest in reconnecting the next generation of consumers and producers to agriculture.
