Biography

Dr. Jo Kennelly, a dual Canadian-New Zealand citizen, has an impressive track record of transforming big ideas into viable business plans, with broad private and public support. A trusted advisor to prime ministers, ministers, mayor’s and international bodies, Jo has been recognized for her leadership, intellect, and impact.

Since 2008, Jo has run a private consulting firm, helping to raise more than $3 billion for her many clients from government funders and private sector investors. Long-term strategic partnership includes Sightline Innovation – an artificial intelligence company based in Manitoba.

Prior to this, Jo served as the Director of Policy to the Federal Health Minister Hon. Tony Clement ($4 billion portfolio, $30 billion federal transfers) from 2006-2008. Here she was engaged in shaping numerous health portfolio initiatives. Before this, Jo worked as the Director of Scientific Advancement and Public Policy at the National Cancer Institute of Canada, 2003 - 2006, and served as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand. 

Jo holds a first class degree in economic and geography from the University of Otago, NZ (BA Hons), and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. Her doctoral research was on the spread of HIV infection and AIDS in the UK and the implications for health service planning.
