Steven G. Pueppke currently serves as Professor of Plant, Soil, and Microbial Sciences at Michigan State University. He has a BS degree from Michigan State University (1971) and a PhD degree in plant pathology from Cornell University (1975). Dr. Pueppke has held positions at the University of Florida and the University of Missouri and was a visiting professor at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and the University of Marburg, Germany. He became Associate Dean for Research in the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois in 1998 and Director of MSU AgBioResearch in 2006. He is past president of the board of the National Council on Food and Agricultural Research, past chairperson of the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council and served on the USDA Advisory Committee on Biotechnology and 21st Century Agriculture. Dr. Pueppke is a Fellow of the American Phytopathological Society and in 2008 received the Chevalier de l’Ordre des palmes Académiques from the Republic of France.
