Dr. Logemann is currently Managing Director of CropDesign in Ghent – a BASF Plant Science company focusing on agricultural biotechnology solutions. CropDesign was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from the VIB (Flanders Institute for Biotechnology) and acquired by BASF in 2006 as a pioneer in screening genetic traits. The company’s trait discovery and development research focuses on enhancing grain yield in crops such as corn and rice and is powered by the TraitMill™ technology platform, which comprises a set of high-throughput processes for gene identification as well as for the high-resolution phenotypic analysis of plants.

Logemann previously was Managing Director of BASF Plant Science Company at Limburgerhof, Germany. In Ghent he retains his position as the company’s Head of Global Technology Acquisition and Innovation Management. 

Logemann studied Biology in Cologne,Germany, followed by a Diploma and PhD thesis at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plant Breeding (MPI), Cologne, Germany. After his postdoc at MPI, he moved to the plant biotechnology company MOGEN, The Netherlands, as Head of Research Crop Protection and then as Business Development Manager. After becoming Licensing Manager at Zeneca Fernhurst, UK, he joined 1998 the initial team at BASF Ludwigshafen to set up and develop BASF Plant Science.
